About
At Ayroor, by the side of the Kallada River, Fr. Kuriakose Pattathil, the then-prior of the S.H. Monastery, Chethipuzha, with the help of Mr Ninan Varghese Villoth of Ayroor, set up a house in 1925 for the CMI scholastics for rest and relaxation during the summer holidays. As it was a Jacobite and Marthomite centre, the fathers staying in the house took special interest in apostolic activities among them and reunited many families to the Catholic fold. People thus reunited had to follow the Syro-Malabar rite as the Syro-Malankara Church did not exist at the time. The CMI chapel at Ayroor became as a parish church of the diocese of Changanacherry. The parish continues even today.
Recently the two-storied building was renovated and well-furnished. Today it is considered an ecumenical centre. Priests of the Malankara Church and of the Syro-Malabar Church come to the house for monthly recollections and annual retreats and to dialogue with the separated brethren.
