Many members of the province expressed a desire to have an English medium school at Mannanam. However nobody wished to establish a new school under the Mannanam Monastery. The suggestion came to establish the school at Mannanam itself, but directly under the province. Thus, a plot of ground at the western corner of Mannanam property was set apart for establishing such a school.

Fr. Philip Pazhayakari was entrusted with the charge of establishing the said school. He got ready the main part of the school building and started the school and junior college with the ICSE syllabus in 1991. Kuriakose Elias Boarding House was established in 1999. Chavara Institute of Educational Research and Training (CIERT) was established in 2003, during the principalship of Fr. Mathew Arekalam.
