The mission station at Vizhinjam was perhaps the first to respond to the invitation of Archbishop Mathew Kavukatt. It was started in 1966. The station is close to the Vizhinjam harbour and about 3 km. from Kovalam beach, an international tourist centre. The St. Peter's Church at Vizhinjam is recognized as a parish church of the Archdiocese of Changanacherry.

St. Cicily's Parish at Uchakada, and the Christ the King parish at Kattukulam are two mission stations developed from St. Peter's Carmel house
